That day i woke
up early(4AM) I got out of the tent to
have a view outside. As I turned back i was mesmerized by the view of Mt.
Pandim standing stout at us, as the moon shined and the stars glittered in the
sky
. I watched the the stars disappearing against the rising sun as Mt. Pandim
glowed orange as the rising sun rays reflected from the ice covering
.
We knew that it was going to be one of the toughest day during the trek. We
started at 7:30AM after having our usual breakfast(sattu). The initial part of
the trail has both steep and gradual climb and the path is paved with wood. The
trail up to Pethang is pleasurable, added by the beauty of Sangalila range
towards left and Knchadzonga range to
your right. We reached Pethang by 10AM.
The weather was clear and we got some
beautiful shots
.
Now the tough part started. The trail up to Deorali top is so tough that it seemed to suck out all of your energy and any enthusiasm to visit Dzongri, but what i felt after completing the trek is that its the tribute one must pay to share the beauty of Kanchandzonga.

We reached Deorali top by
11:30AM.From there the path to Dzongri is easy with gradual up climb and down
climbs.
Finally we reached Dzongri at 1PM. There are three camping area at
Dzongri with their own pros and cons.
Site1: it’s
the site just below the toilet but can have view of Sangalila range if weather
is clear.
Site 2: it’s
by the side of the trail to Thansing, behind the kitchen with a small rivulet
flowing by side. got no view of Kanchandzonga or Sangalila range
Site 3: its
by the side of the trail to dzongri top. The most beautiful site among the
3,but got to have own kitchen as its few meters above the trekkers hut.
Or one can
avail trekkers hut. If someone is more sensitive to cold, or couldn’t get
sleep in tent ,or feeling sick he/she
should opt for the trekkers hut as it’s a lot warmer than the tents.
My trekking
partner presented with headache and spinning sensation there. I immediately
advised him to take Saridon and Diamox. The headache relieved by evening. We
had our usual lunch and dinner with chowkidar there and went to sleep by
8PM. The night was extremely cold there.
