We started for
Samiti Lake at 4am. It was very cold outside, Mt. Ranges glowing in the moon light
against a backdrop of glittering sky. The path to Lamuney takes about 2hr, it’s
interrupted with streams that has to be crossed by stepping on the stones in
it. But that’s the tricky part one must check the surface of the stones with
their stick for layer of ice, as if it’s there one must avoid it, otherwise its
very easy to slip off as one steps on it. As we crossed Lamuney for Samiti we
spotted a herd of Blue sheep
. We proceeded for Samiti after taking some pics.
Samiti Lake is around an hour and half from there. The Lake is at the base of
Mt. Pandim. The water is greenish; people there consider the lake holy. We sat
rested had some breakfast and again started back for Thansing.
If one is
willing to visit Goechala, stay at Lamuney as its difficult to be there after
sunrise as the ice starts melting. We came back to Thansing by 12pm.
We rested
then had our lunch. Then i sat in the field and simply kept gazing at the
mighty mountains and relished the last day of mighty views. Meanwhile I noticed
some teen guide and porters playing cricket with a handmade bat and ball made
of polythenes. It felt different playing cricket at 13,000ft around mountains.
As the night fell we went inside. At 7pm we had our lunch and went to bed.
