DAY 5:DZONGRI-LAKSHMI POKHRI-KOKCHURANG-THANSING(6 ½ hr)

Last night we had a good sleep in the trekkers hut as it was warmer inside and more comfortable on bed. My friend was also feeling fresh the day. We decided to start early for Thansing as we planned to pay a visit to Lamni Pokhri (at the foot of Black Kabru) on the way. We finally started at 7:30AM. There's a initial steep climb followed by gradual ups and downs.

After walking for an hour and half our guide told us to left our luggage on the trail take a deroute to Lamini Pokhri. As I told about my concern about our luggage left unattended on the trail, he ensured that the luggage will be there unharmed by the time we return back. So I took my cam. Tripod and bottle of water with me and started for Lamini Pokhri on a not so well defined trail. The path right from Dzongri is simply mesmerizing, mountain ranges on both of your sides, blue sky forming an back ground curtain and walking on a sleek trail that seems to be meticulously cut in curves in the heart of meadows of the mountain carpeted with green grasses and patches of red and orange ferns.

As you walk small rivulets(some parts still frozen) playfully crosses your path and have to pass them by stepping on the stones haphazardly placed on them
. It took us another 40 min to reach Lamni Pokhri. The first sight towards the lake at the foot of Black Kabru filled my heart with admiration for the less visited lake, surrounded by snow peaked mountain peaks cajoling with each other to get their reflections in the lake against the blue backdrop created by the clear blue sky which sometimes was getting smudged with the white floating clouds,.

I took some clicks around the lake and started back to Thansinsing. We reached to our luggage by 10:10AM. After taking some rest we again started to Kockchurang(on the way to Thansing). After a walk of around 10min there's a steep down climb to Kockchurang. The trail is paved with loose gravels and be careful while stepping, it’s better to place your steps on soil rather than pebbles to avoid slipping. It’s advisable to wear a knee bandage while descending, it will help you to avoid knee pain following the downhill descend(though I was late to comply and had to suffer for the day). Kockchurang is another place that left me spellbound. The majestic Prek Chu roaring down the valley guarded by large stone boulders as the mighty mountains gaze down at you.

There’s arrangement for kitchen and toilet but you need to have your cooking and staying arrangements. It’s a beautiful camping site but it’s advisable to camp here during return. After you pass Kockchurang toppling over the large boulders and some bridges by the side of Prek Chu there is a moderate climb to Thansing. Thansing is a relatively flat grassland with close and clear view of the peaks. We reached Thansing at 2pm. We decided to stay in the trekker’s hut here considering the low temperature, my friend’s health and to have a sound sleep. Rest of the day we spent dozing off inside.
