DAY 1: YAKSUM-BAKHIM, 16km, 8hr

We woke up early. The guide and porter haven’t yet arrived. We submitted the document(2 copies  of voter i-card,2passport size photographs), entry fees(avg. to  Rs.1000 per head), medical fitness form(Rs.50 each) and registered our name at local p.s. Rob arranged for us a taxi, which we shared with another group(total Rs.200) that dropped us at starting  point of the trail to Goechala. In the meanwhile we had packed our lunch(2 of us,porter, guide). The journey finally started at 9:40AM. The initial part of the trail passes through the village of yuksom.
 The trail proceeds into jungle
, revering with sound of river and falls below, which can be  easily sighted in clear weather. The trail up to Sachen crosses Tshushay Khola, Mentogang Khola. When we reached Sachen it was around 1pm,we took our lunch, rested for sometime, talked with fellow trekkers. People who where descending down the trail were very disappointed. Most of them couldn’t even sight the peaks even once and had to cross even ankle deep mud during the trek. We started to proceed  towards Bakhim with our fingers crossed. The trail descends gradually to bridge over Prek Chu. Then there’s a steep climb through jungle upto Bakhim. We reached Bakhim at 5pm; my guide had already pitched the tent just before a cliff with a clear sight of the valley.
As we reached, we put off our shoes, spread the sleeping mat, unpacked sleeping bag and slid into it. We had Maggie and Chang(local beer, tastes like wine)that night as our dinner at 7:30pm. and slept by 8:30PM.
